i'm all about kitchen these days.  reading lots about them and dreaming up fabulous kitchens for me to have one day (what i'll do in those/that kitchen/s no one knows, but one can dream!).  this post is about storage in said fabulous kitchen.

knives UNDER a cabinet??  how cool is that??? AND they could be kind of hidden from potential burglers.  why is that not spelled right?  burgeler.  hmm... robbers is what i mean.  bad people.  anyway, found here.

i like the picture above because its repurposing things.  and its so cute!  from here.

neat idea to organize drawers.  love it!  who thinks of these things?  oh right.  these people.

we all know i love bright pink.  i'm not really a pale pink person.  anyway, i LOVE this room.  how cool is it??  i wonder if i would ever have guts to do that... i bet that would secure my lifelong singledom if i did.  ha

found here in this cool post about color.  i'm not a huge yellow fan, BUT i love the layout and the "bookshelf" of this room.  imagine it in PINK.  how cool would that be??

obviously a functioning swing is important in an apartment. with plenty of room to get really really high. i remember when my grandpa joe used to push me on the swings in walhalla. ohh, the memories.

what sayst you to swings in living rooms? oooooooooo! what if ALL dining table chairs were swings?? that would be AWESOME. i'm a genius.

ok, so i'm not positive how i feel about this, but thought i would post it because it COULD be something really cool. but first

1) is it impermeable to bugs?

2) why can't you see the inside?? how silly is that? if its as cool as i think it is, i want one in my back yard because

3) its green. i dont know whats so green about it, but apparently it is.

so this link has some cool pictures of pools. this first one is neat because its in boston (you can tell by the skyline. that, AND, they tell you in the below section)

this next pictures really irked me. we all know i'm afraid of sharks in pools. WHY would you paint them on the floor of the pool??? thats just asking for trouble.

so i just keep going back to this pool which makes me very very happy - indoors (no stupid bugs or trees or other forms of life), there is a SWING - AWE-SOME, AND its right next to a bar! (at first i thought it was a kitchen which seemed silly to me, but then i realized...)

so my mom sent this to me last week and i thought it was quite clever. the subject of the email was that it was a medicine cabinet that i should get. i was curious because i dont really need a new medicine cabinet nor have i talked to my mom about her getting one. then i saw this and realized why it is a medicine cabinet.




after these pictures there was a list of ailments and prescriptions such as...
disease wine daily does
allergies pinot noir 1 glass
hypertension sancerre 3-4 glasses

of all the places i have lived, i think my favorite apartment was my apartment in sac. it was fabulous. and cheap. and in an older, but totally well maintained building. it had a hallway, TONS of built-in storage (i couldnt even fill it all!) and a proper dining room with french doors. there was a swinging door into the kitchen. it was fantastic. the kitchen was super old, but i loved it. one of my favorite features was a farmhouse sink. it was so deep and ceramic and ... just perfect. loved loved loved it. this one is even better, though, because its modern. i like that, too. here are some others. what do you think about farmhouse sinks?

apartment therapy has a whole bunch of posts on nooks lately. i didn't like a single one of their kitchen nooks because to me they were just benches IN the kitchen. not actually a nook. above is a PROPER nook that i love. hidden room - off the beaten path - crook in a wall. this one pleases me.

right. so.... OBVIOUSLY i have to have this gorgeous toilet in my apartment. how pretty is it?? and it looks really clean! if they have those fancy japanese -style flushers/cleaners/disinfectanters, even better! or, actually, a must. found here. the other toilets they list are not that pretty. i don't get them. AND if i had this toilet, it would have to be against a black backdrop, perfectly lit the whole time. obviously.

its apparent that i love stairs. and i LOVE pink. and i love pops of color. the stairs above are fantastic and, since i have spiral stairs in my apartment, totally possible!! :)

perhaps more easily accepted is the color combination below and i think its spectacular. so pretty.

but below are stairs that i absolutely fell in love with. i love music and think this is such a beautiful and creative way to show one's personality. love it.

without explaining, what is it that i love about the house above?

cement?
clean lines?
lack of neighbors?

all of the above. but REALLY, the MOST IMPORTANT thing is the SAFETY of this house. i read a post from bubby and it says that this is a zombie proof house. i know nothing about zombies, but it seems like it would be really difficult to include ALL stops against zombies. and it appears this house does just that.

welcome back to another dream apartment edition! its been quite a while... i still read lots of apartment decorating blogs, but nothing has really stood out for me in a while. (i just checked and its been over a month!) i forgot to do an earth day post, as well. shucks. anyway, this post had a whole bunch of stairs and i LOVE this version because it reminds me of a music note! doesn't it? or maybe not the actual music note. what are the lines on sheet music called? i can't remember... and what i love most about this staircase is that there is clearly room for a big, grand staircase and because of the design of the room, they chose a spiraly one. and the height is so great, too! LOVE it.

the following staircase is actually one i don't like. no, i shouldnt say that. i just don't love it like i love other staircases. i respect the cleanliness of it all. too old fashioned and ornate for me.
