this is a train wreck and i can't stop watching it - thanks to boingboing. it is from, of course, the borders here in columbus - last week sp was in town to sign her new book. tell me if this doesn't make you sad...

its a bit long, but worth every second...

  2. Alright, now I did watch that. Its brainwashed Americans who would rather vote "with God" then have an educated opinion. That is sad.

  3. Alright, alright alright. I thoroughly dislike SP, too. I also agree that our poor, fellow americans at the book signing were clearly less informed by fact than punditry. However, I feel I must point out that Barack Obama was supported by no fewer crowds of people who cared much less about issues and much more about following their "gut" that Clinton was just "bad for the party, bad for America; we need change, etc. etc."

In other words, how many of us on there can talk intelligently about cap & trade? I can tell you the premise, but not what it will cost or how it will really work. And health care? I consider myself a psuedo-expert on the current health policy debate, but even now am being drowned in a sea of committee reports, information and bills. As for "drill baby drill," I'll give a nickle to anyone who can tell me the name of the United States department that regulates mineral leasing and drilling.

But, again, I agree: I can't stand crazy ol' SP.

  5. i think the difference between SP and obama for many people is the fact that even if i don't understand fully cap and trade, i believe that HE DOES. i'm not necessarily the most educated on all of the issues, but i prefer to have political leaders who are SMARTER than me, not dumber.

  6. I guess it's something only a guy from a flooded-out town can appreciate.

  7. I just feel sorry for the Pittsburg Steelers organization. First they lose to Kansas City then this. What's next Franco Harris and Terry Bradshaw going on Oprah and admitting that the immaculate reception was a trap.

As for the nickle it's sort of a trick question isn't it. I mean the "drill baby drill" women was talking about the moritorium in Alaska, I assume, which was the department of interior, however, they don't really regulate mining per se. Technically most the regulation is at the state level the federal regs are spread across several agencies such as the DOL and EPA depending what issue you are talking about. Sorry I used to audit a mine and a dam. we called the later the Damn audit, good times.
